CYNTHIA FRIESEN

At the heart of my music care practice is a desire to support older adults in connecting through singing. Drawing on my background as a music educator and my graduate research on singing, belonging, and healthy aging, I design choir programs and workshops that foster community, well-being, and meaningful engagement. I also teach caregivers and organizations how music can become an intentional part of compassionate care for others as well as themselves.

My Approach

I provide an understanding of music through shapes and contrasts created by the expression of sounds, spaces and dynamics, and by exploring how our songs connect us to each other. Whether our musical journey starts with individual coaching or in a choral collective, the ultimate hope is to then expand upon that growth into stronger connections with others through singing together.
